Re-imagining iconic IP for a new generation of superfans.

Celebrating a milestone anniversary.

Delighting families across generations.

This was the vision of Elf North Pole Workshop, bringing the whimsical world of Elf the movie to life on the Roblox platform. And by all measures, the experience was a success for all parties.

Created in partnership with Jon Favreau’s Fairview Portals, and Warner Bros., the experience was developed in less than 3 months — an unprecedented feat of art and engineering — and immediately differentiated itself from other Roblox experiences through its innovative approach to immersive visual design. Where Roblox typically features a flat, simplistic art style, the world and characters of Elf redefined the capabilities of the platform at no cost to performance with stunning stop-motion style visuals and effects the likes of which are unprecedented on the platform.

From beloved stop-motion clay characters, to knit trees, wooden workshops, and the mouthwatering Candy Cane Forest beyond, every visual element appears as if it’s been plucked right out of a classic animated holiday film. To further lend to the authenticity, the experience’s enchanting musical score was created by Elf composer John Debney.

Supersocial’s expertise in cutting-edge creative, engineering excellence and best-in-class execution enabled us to build an immersive space for families to explore together from the ground up, re-imagining the beloved Elf franchise for a new generation to enjoy worldwide on Roblox.

Supersocial worked closely with Fairview Portals to perfect every element of the experience, ensuring players felt the magic of the film firsthand in a way they’d never felt before. From tangible textures to microcosmic charm and practical effects, the team channeled the energy of a true North Pole Workshop, working together tirelessly as a united front to bring the spirit of beloved stop motion style animated classics to life—something which has never been attempted on Roblox, let alone in under 3 months!

Despite the odds, the Supersocial team manifested a true Christmas miracle through world-class collaboration and succeeded in delivering a stunning world which exceeded the expectations of our partners while delighting nearly one million players across the globe, proving the spirit of Christmas is alive and well for a whole new generation.

Delightful Results

Elf North Pole Workshop was a great success for all of the partners, building new superfans of the IP on the Roblox platform, driving deep engagement with them and creating lots of fun.

Specifically, the experience hit the following milestones during the 3.5 month activation:

  • A superb like ratio of 94.2%, signaling overwhelming community approval and joy.
  • Over 1.1 million play sessions by 902K unique players.
  • A peak of 4k concurrent users and an average session length of 6 minutes.
  • Over 900k toys wrapped
  • Over 110m candy canes earned
  • Almost 90k head elves hired
